Long Time No Update

Yeah I know I haven't posted in a while, but this year has been quite hectic. Anyway, I had to post this article from the american Sledheads magazine that Tomas from TOBE sent me. The helmet was a design I did for TOBE last year, and it's really cool to get such a positive feedback. I plan on putting up this design as well as some new work on the homepage as soon as I get some time.

New Work on the Site

So, with ISPO coming up next weekend, I think it's ok for me to put up some new work on the website. Go there now to check out some work I did for SOS last year (you can see a piece below), as well as a couple of news ski's and some other things. I have also updated the way the everything is presented, with some text giving some background information to the work, hopefully making it clearer what is what and why. Wow, didn't mean to leave it so long between posts!
Anyway, since my last update I have been working hard for a few different brands, on a few different projects. I just spent the last few days in Stockholm, Sweden, finalising some work on the new collection for Peak Performance, which was a great experience (although I think I'll have to learn some more swedish ;-)), and in the next few days I'll be doing some personal work on my website and portfolio to get ready for ISPO, a big trade show in Munich that I'll be attending at the end of this month.
So keep your eyes out for a bunch of new work to go up on the website, and hopefully some more regular updates here.

Huge Fremd Clothing Update

Sorry about the lack of posts, I have been working hard the last couple of months on a few different projects, and as usual I can't talk about them for a while....

What I can talk about though, is Fremd Clothing, my little t-shirt site on the side. I just made a huge update to the site, with new designs, new colours, new prices, and best of all, a new international shop, so almost everyone can now order their own Fremd t-shirt. I also added a few of these designs to the Apparel graphics section of my homepage for your viewing pleasure, and here's a few pics of the t-shirts...

(by the way the first one is not a new t-shirt, I just like the "don't give a f__k" attitude! Nice one Nico!)

Finally, after months of that coming soon message, the work section of http://www.owencdesign.com/ has been updated! I had some unexpected free time after getting back from my travels, so I thought it would be a good time to finally get the website looking more like I intended in the first place (which took me a lot longer than I thought it would). You can now go and check out a bunch of my work directly on the site, and I hope to make regular updates as more of my work becomes "public", which means I can let people see it finally (usually takes at least six months or so).

Last week I returned from 3 weeks holidays travelling around Italy. It was my first real opportunity to go around on my own (not for business) and see something of Europe since I moved here 5 years ago, so I really enjoyed the trip. Italy is a great place, there is so much to see and do you could spend months trying to fit it all in. I really liked Cinque Terre, a beautiful area on the west coast, made of of five small coastal towns that you can only get to by walking. Anyway, as usual here is a couple of pics....

Sorry about the long delay between posts, I have been very busy these past few weeks working on some graphics, and trying to get Fremd, my little t-shirt endeavour, up and running (that should be going next month finally). Anyway here is a little taste of some of what I have been doing, this was a design proposal for a womens ski. The colours are very girly but I like the little art deco feel. The client decided to go a different way, but thats cool, as I can now put this up here....

Easter Break

Hope everybody enjoyed the Easter weekend. It was perfect weather here so I went with my girlfriend down to the Italian part of Switzerland for a few days, as it was one of the few parts of the country I had yet to visit. It's a really nice area I have to say, full of valleys, lakes, and the typically beautiful Swiss scenery. I checked out Lugano, Ascona, Locano, and also a few castles in Bellinzona. I always like having a look at castles as thats one of the things we definitely don't have back home in Sydney. Anyway, here are a few pictures....

Adobe CS3

It's that time again, Adobe have just announced details of Creative Suite 3, to the joy of designers everywhere (maybe not.) Is it just me or does it feel like we only just got CS2. I have had a quick look at the new features for illustrator, which is what I use the most, and it doesn't look like the new stuff is anything I desperately need right now, so I think I'll wait and see before thinking about an upgrade.

Sportscheck

So I just got the new Sportscheck Summer 07 catalogue in the mail, and surprise surprise, there was a couple of pages of stuff that I worked on for Scott in there. Sportscheck is one of the biggest sport store chains in german speaking Europe, so even though they are maybe not the coolest kids on the block, it's nice to have stuff in a catalogue that a lot of people will see. Last summer they didn't have anything in their catalogue, so this is definitely a step up. I am curious to see what will happen next year ;-). Pool Magazine

Pool magazine is a lifestyle/design magazine distributed around Europe and some other parts of the world including New York and Tokyo. You can check them out at www.pool-mag.net . They recently featured one of my products, a surf short I worked on for Scott, in there Potpourri section. You can see the picture here, or check out issue 17 on their site for a larger version.

I have finally updated my homepage. It's not quite finished yet, but at least you can check out a little bit about me, who I am and what I do. Soon I hope to have it completely finished, but work is keeping me busy at the moment, not a bad way to be though when you are freelance.
